Play the following exercises paying attention to the sticking.
Single Stroke Roll
A single stroke roll is a basic drumming pattern where you hit the drum or pad with one hand at a time, alternating between hands. It’s a fundamental skill for drummers, helping them build speed, control, and consistency in their playing. Practice involves starting slowly and gradually increasing speed to develop muscle memory. The single stroke roll serves as the foundation for more complex drumming techniques and is crucial for drummers of all levels.
Single Stroke Four
A single Stroke Four is an advanced single stroke roll with a triplet 16th followed by an eighth. This rudiment should be practiced alternating from the left and right hand. Practice with a metronome slowly increasing speed. This will develop muscle memory and allow you to play these accurately at faster speeds.
Single Stroke Seven
The Single Stroke Seven is similar to the Single Stroke Four roll other than you will alternate hands on the second roll.
